“New  Music Cinema” is a musical and visual aesthetic described by JR Wilson  as “a unified primitive/futuristic sound  that combines features of art film with advanced electronic techniques.  Elements typically include:

~ New/contemporary original music composed specifically for the  the visual content (usually  the music is considered “acousmatic”)

~ Use of Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) technology to produce the music & sound effects soundtrack (used by most film composers)

~ Creative and artistic use of original and/or existing images and film clips to produce the visual content

~ Similar to opera, the storyline can be of a serious nature and embody existential overtones

~ The final production is usually at least  10 – 15 minutes (or more) in length, and can contain several or more acts or scenes
